A broken screen is the most common phone repair, and also the one with the most confusing prices. Two shops can quote very different amounts for “the same” display. The difference is almost always the type and quality of the panel. Knowing the options helps you choose what is right for your phone and budget.
The main display types
Original / service pack
Made to the phone maker’s specification. Colours, brightness, touch response and battery consumption match the phone as it came out of the box. On iPhones and Samsung flagships this is the best choice if you plan to keep the phone for years.
OLED (aftermarket)
For phones that came with an OLED screen, a good aftermarket OLED keeps deep blacks and thin bezels at a lower price. Quality varies a lot between suppliers, which is why the source matters.
Incell / LCD copy
The cheapest option for OLED phones. It works, but the screen is usually thicker, less bright, uses more battery and can show a slightly different colour tone. Features such as the in-display fingerprint sensor may not work on some models.
How to compare quotes properly
- Ask which type of display is being fitted, not just the price.
- Ask what warranty covers — touch, lines and dead pixels — and for how long.
- On iPhones, ask whether True Tone and Face ID will keep working after the change.
- Check that the frame is cleaned and the new screen is sealed properly, especially on water-resistant phones.
When the problem is not the screen
Sometimes a phone shows lines, a black screen or no touch even though the glass is not cracked. This can be a loose or damaged connector, a backlight or display power fault on the motherboard. Replacing the screen will not fix it. We test with a known-good display first, so you only pay for what is actually wrong.
Our approach
At Prasad Cell Care we tell you the available options for your model, show the difference and let you choose. Every display is tested for touch, brightness, colour and sensors before the phone is returned. Most common screen replacements are done the same day.
